Terms of Service.
The terms on which Gosforth Roofing provides quotes, carries out roofing work and operates this website.
Last updated: 28 August 20261. About us
These terms apply to roofing work carried out by Gosforth Roofing of 26 Northfield Road, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 3UL, and to your use of the website at www.gosforthroofing.co.uk.
You can contact us at info@gosforthroofing.co.uk, on 07359 533071 (mobile) or 01912 850725 (office).
2. Quotes
- Roof surveys and quotes are free and carry no obligation.
- Quotes are given in writing and are valid for 30 days from the date issued unless stated otherwise.
- A quote is a fixed price for the work described in it. It does not include work that isn't described in it.
- Quotes are based on what could reasonably be seen at the time of survey. Roofs conceal things — rotten timber, failed lead, defective structure — that cannot be identified until the covering is stripped.
- Where additional work is found once the roof is opened up, we will stop, explain what we've found, and give you a price for the extra work before carrying it out. You are under no obligation to accept it.
- Material prices can move. If a quote is accepted more than 30 days after it was issued, we may need to reprice it.
3. Accepting a quote and forming a contract
A contract is formed when you accept our quote in writing — by email, text or by signing and returning it — and we confirm the booking. At that point these terms apply to the work.
4. Access, scaffolding and site conditions
- You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to the property, and to the roof, on the agreed dates.
- Where scaffold is required it will be stated in the quote. Scaffold may need to stand on a neighbour's land or on the public highway; obtaining a neighbour's permission is your responsibility, and any highway licence fee is included in the quote where we have been made aware it is needed.
- Please move vehicles, garden furniture, pots and anything else fragile from the working area before we arrive. We take reasonable care but cannot accept responsibility for items left in the work area.
- Roofing work creates noise, dust and debris. We sheet up where practical and clear the site on completion.
- If we attend on an agreed date and cannot access the property or start work through no fault of ours, we reserve the right to charge a reasonable call-out fee to cover the wasted visit.
5. Weather and timescales
Roofing is weather-dependent. Any timescale we give is an estimate made in good faith, not a guarantee. We will not strip a roof, lay a membrane or work at height in conditions that would compromise the work or the safety of our team. Where weather delays a job we will keep you informed and reschedule as soon as conditions allow, and we will always leave the roof watertight at the end of each working day.
6. Payment
- On smaller jobs, payment is due on completion.
- On larger jobs a deposit may be required to cover materials and scaffold, with the balance due on completion. Any deposit will be stated in the quote.
- Invoices are payable within 24 Hours of the invoice date.
- We accept bank transfer. Please use the reference shown on the invoice.
- We reserve the right to charge interest on late payment under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where the contract is with a business.
- Materials remain our property until paid for in full.
7. Guarantee
- Our workmanship is guaranteed for 10 years from completion, as stated on your invoice or guarantee document.
- Materials are covered by their own manufacturer warranties, which we will pass on to you.
- The guarantee covers defects in our workmanship. It does not cover storm or impact damage, damage caused by third parties working on the roof after us, movement or failure of the building structure, blocked gutters or lack of maintenance, or pre-existing defects elsewhere on the roof that were outside the scope of the work quoted.
- The guarantee applies to the work we carried out. It is not a guarantee of the whole roof.
- If something goes wrong, tell us. We would always rather come back and put it right.
8. Your right to cancel
If you are a consumer and the contract was agreed away from our business premises — at your home, or by telephone or email — you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the contract being formed, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
If you have asked us to begin work within that 14-day period and then cancel, you must pay for the work carried out and materials supplied up to the point of cancellation. To cancel, write to us at the email address above.
9. Liability
We hold public liability insurance and will provide evidence of cover on request.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected.
Subject to that, our liability in connection with the work is limited to the value of the contract, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as loss of income, loss of profit or the cost of alternative accommodation.
We are not responsible for pre-existing defects in the property, for the condition of parts of the roof or building outside the scope of the work quoted, or for damage caused by the failure of hidden structure that could not reasonably have been identified at survey.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our work, contact us at info@gosforthroofing.co.uk or on 07777 145 715. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. We would always rather hear about a problem than have you live with it.
11. Website use
- The content of this website is provided for general information about our services. It does not constitute technical or structural advice for your specific property — only a survey can do that.
- All content, text, images and design on this website are our property or used under licence, and may not be reproduced without permission.
- Prices, timescales and specifications described on the site are indicative and are superseded by your written quote.
- Where the site links to third-party websites, we are not responsible for their content.
12. Privacy
How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
13. General
- These terms, together with your written quote, form the whole agreement between us. The quote takes precedence if there is any conflict.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your job is the one in force when your quote was accepted.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
