Garage roof re-felt in Fawdon, Newcastle

The problem

The client had noticed damp patches on the inside of the garage roof. On inspection we found the felt upstands around the edges of the roof had perished, letting water track in wherever the covering met a wall or abutment.

What we did

We stripped off all the perished felt roof covering from the garage roof and disposed of it via skip, then supplied and applied a bitumen primer to the full roof area ahead of felting. The roof was re-felted with two layers of Icopal Tecnotorch torch-on felt — an underlay layer followed by a high performance cap sheet — with new upstands formed at every abutment.

The result

A fully watertight garage roof with a high performance torch-on felt system throughout and proper upstands at every edge, so water can no longer track in where the old covering had failed. The job was completed in a single day with no disruption beyond the garage itself.
