Roof Repairs in Newcastle.
Leaks, slipped slates, cracked tiles, storm damage and all repair works. We come out, find what's actually causing the problem and fix it properly — with fast call-outs for emergency roof repairs across Gosforth, Newcastle and North Tyneside.
Finding what's actually leaking
A wet patch on a bedroom ceiling is almost never directly under the hole. Water tracks along battens and rafters before it drops, so the damage shows up feet away from the entry point. That's why we get up on the roof and in the loft rather than pricing a repair off a photo — fixing the wrong thing costs you twice.
- Slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles
- Failed or missing lead flashings around chimneys and abutments
- Cracked ridge and verge mortar washing out
- Perished felt at the eaves letting wind-driven rain in
- Blocked or split valleys backing water up under the covering
- Storm damage and impact damage
How a repair works
Call us and we'll arrange a visit, usually within a couple of days and sooner if water is actively coming in. We diagnose the cause, quote a fixed price and, on most jobs, carry out the repair on the same visit. If the roof is past repairing we'll say so and price a re-roof instead rather than take your money for another patch.
- Call out arranged — same or next day for active leaks
- Roof and loft both inspected to trace the actual path of the water
- Cause explained and a fixed price given before any work starts
- Repair carried out, usually on the same visit
- Temporary make-safe if materials or weather mean a return trip
- Area left clean and the work guaranteed
What repairs cost
Small repairs — a few slates, a length of ridge, a flashing — are a fixed-price call-out and cheaper than most people expect. What pushes the price up is access: a repair at height or over a conservatory needs scaffold, and that's usually the biggest line on the quote.
What we repair
If it's on the roof, we fix it. Common jobs across Newcastle include the following.
- Slipped, broken and missing slates or tiles
- Leaks traced and stopped at source
- Lead flashings, soakers and valleys renewed
- Ridge and hip mortar re-bedded or converted to dry-fix
- Chimney flaunching and pointing made good
- Storm and wind damage made safe and repaired
- Flat roof patches and full felt renewal
- Gutter, fascia and soffit repairs
- Roof ventilation corrected where condensation is the real cause
- Insurance work — photographs and written reports supplied
Emergency call-outs
- Water actively coming in — call the mobile rather than emailing
- Temporary covering fitted to make the roof safe
- Permanent repair booked once weather allows
- Photographs supplied for insurance claims
How quickly can you come out?
For an active leak we'll aim for same or next day. For non-urgent repairs it's usually within the week. Ring the mobile rather than emailing if water is coming in — 07777 145 715.
How much does a roof repair cost?
Small repairs are a fixed-price call-out and less than most people expect. The variable is access: if the repair needs scaffold, that's normally the largest part of the bill. You'll have the full figure in writing before we start.
Will you just patch it to get paid?
No. If the roof is beyond economic repair we'll tell you and price a re-roof instead. Patching a roof that needs replacing wastes your money and our time.
Can you repair in the rain?
We can make a roof safe in almost any weather with a temporary covering. Permanent repairs — anything involving mortar, felt or torch-on — need dry conditions to bond properly, so those get booked for the next dry window.
Do you do insurance work?
Yes. We'll supply photographs and a written report of the damage and the repair for your insurer.
